About the Author

Peter Nouwens is the creator of Great Racing Content and author of the 75 Years of the Podium series. Through race-by-race storytelling, he has undertaken the challenge of chronicling the battle for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in every race, in every season, in every decade of the FIA Formula One World Championship.

Born in Queensland, Australia, and now living in Warwickshire, England, Peter has followed Formula 1 and motor racing since childhood. From the arrival of the Tasman Series in Australia in 1964 to the modern Grand Prix era, he has spent more than six decades fascinated by the drivers, rivalries and stories that have shaped the sport.

As Formula 1 approached its 75th anniversary, Peter believed the milestone deserved more than a passing celebration. The sport's history had been shaped by generations of drivers who pushed themselves, and their machines, to the limit in pursuit of victory. Their courage, determination, achievements and rivalries helped create one of the world's greatest sporting spectacles.

Yet Formula 1's story is about more than success. It is also a story of risk, sacrifice and loss. Throughout its history, drivers have accepted dangers that are difficult to imagine today. Some achieved greatness. Some saw their dreams fall short. Some paid the ultimate price. Their stories deserve to be remembered alongside their achievements.

The 75 Years of the Podium series was created to recognise, respect and share those stories. By following the battle for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in every race, in every season, in every decade of the Formula One World Championship, the series explores the people, rivalries, triumphs, disappointments and defining moments that have shaped more than 75 years of Formula 1 history, culminating in the celebration of those who earned their place on the podium.

The series isn't a collection of statistics, nor a work of fiction. It's a set of stories based on fact that capture the human history of Formula 1.

The facts of Formula 1 history are widely available. Race results, championship standings and historical records can be found in countless places. The challenge was to transform the facts into the stories that capture the spirit, adventure and emotions of our sport, for everyone to read and connect with.

Using modern research and analysis tools, Peter gathered and reviewed information from a wide range of sources before curating and organising it into the structure and content of the books. The result is a consistent race-by-race chronicle that combines historical fact with storytelling, bringing the human side of Formula 1 history to life.

The series also marks the beginning of Peter's wider mission, through Great Racing Content, to celebrate and share the stories, personalities and achievements that have defined Formula 1 and motor racing across generations.
