Spa-Francorchamps delivered one of the most thrilling races of the 1990 season, packed with overtakes, changing weather, and raw emotion. Ayrton Senna reigned supreme once again at one of his favourite circuits, mastering Spa's shifting conditions with calculated brilliance. He stayed calm through the early laps, took the lead when opportunity struck, and never looked back. His focus in the wet-dry conditions was unmatched, and once out front, he controlled the pace flawlessly.

Alain Prost mounted a determined chase, keeping the pressure on and delivering a clean, fast race. While Ferrari lacked the ultimate edge to challenge Senna directly, Prost’s consistency and race management ensured a strong second-place finish, keeping him firmly in the championship hunt. He pushed when needed, but ultimately accepted that second was the maximum on the day.
Nigel Mansell, ever the fighter, carved his way onto the podium with grit and trademark aggression. After a difficult start, he came alive mid-race, overtaking rivals with bold, calculated moves-none more impressive than his pass into Les Combes. His determination was clear, his podium well-earned.

There were no major retirements at the front, but Spa's unpredictability once again proved to be a challenge for many in the midfield. For the top three, though, it was a clean, high-stakes contest where experience and confidence shaped the outcome.
